We are a company in North and Mid Surrey as well as in South West London, that specialises in home care for elderly and disabled persons. The main job role is to assist (dressing, administering, medication, help with bath…) older people in their own homes.

About the work: The kind of work the women (or men) will have to do is described as a home care assistant. That means you will have to go from house to house looking after older people. Some of them are just old and weak, some are ill. Even though you may be trained, you will have to do your training here as well. The training comprises of 5 days theory training (where you will learn for example: Medication Policy, Emergency & Carer Responsibility, Risk Assessment, First Aid, Dementia, Food Hygiene, Safeguarding…) in the office + few days to accompanying the different carers to their clients – called shadowing.

The range of work types that care workers can expect to assist and help with are for example: – Getting Up, – Going to Bed, -Bathing, -Cooking, -Bed Making, -Dressing, -Food Preparation, -Feeding, -Using the Toilet, -Laundry, -Ironing, -Shopping, -House Duties. The wages are calculated based on how many clients/how many hours you have. It takes about 4 to 6 weeks to gain a full rota – i.e. about 6-10 clients. The work can start from 6.30am. as wake up calls and finish at 10 pm, when you put people to bed. Generally the cares are working six days a week – they have a break of about 4-6 hours in between. You will be given a number of clients where you will spend from 30 minutes to 1+ hour with each client. We will tell you how much time per client and what to do. You do not have to be a nurse. You should only want to be good people who want to look after older people. We may be able to help you find a room here (or we can give you the name of the area where you will work and you can find a room there yourself), as you do have to live within these areas. Rooms cost from 85 to 95+ pounds a week + deposit. Tenancy agreements apply. We will need to do your criminal records bureau (police check) check here in England. That will cost you 50 pounds and your uniform will cost you 16 pounds. Deducted from your salary.

About the area where you will work: We work within the areas of Sunbury, Staines, Stanwell, Ashford, Weybridge, Shepperton, Kingston, Epsom, New Malden, Wimbledon, Surbiton, Merton, Morden, Mitcham… These areas are within a localised area. You will most likely work in one of these areas. The transport systems here may not be good in some areas, so we supply you with a company pool cars so that you can share the car with some other carers and you can assist each other in transport. You will be assisted to travel into the area that you work in, but you may then have to walk around. There are some girls who prefer to use the bus, bicycle and walk themselves. We cover the cost of the car, insurance, tax, emergency cover. We will ask you to sign a 4 week notice contract, as well as a car contract. You will be on a 13 weeks probation to start with, and then you will get a pay increase.

Pay rates: You can earn from 350 to 400 pounds a week – depending on your hours. The hourly rates will be discussed upon application. You will get a higher level of pay if you have a level 2 NVQ or 3 NVQ qualification in care.

Requirements: 1.English knowledge 2.Drive – at least 1 year – manual car. 3.Is wanting to do care. That means – is able to clean people in pads, faeces, give people a bath – just like you are looking after a baby- but an older person. 4.Over 21 years. 5.You must want to be here for at least one year. 6.You must give to the company one month’s notice if you want to leave.
